From script lock to the last delivery.

The shoot is the centre of the production, not the whole production. Build a plan that keeps preparation and post visible on either side of it, with clear handoffs and room for the reality of your film.

Make preparation more than one long bar

Start with the Film / Narrative template in the workspace. Review script lock, the breakdown and the first schedule before moving into casting, locations and department preparation. Rename or remove sample tasks that do not belong to your production.

Separate the work from the decision that releases the next phase. For example, a location scout and a final location decision are not interchangeable. Add the detail that your team needs to understand what is ready and what is still an assumption.

Plan the shoot as real days

Use explicit shoot-day tasks for principal photography. Check cast assignments and locations against those dates, then read the cast Day Out of Days view for another perspective. A block of photography on the timeline is useful at a glance; individual days are what let you inspect the people involved.

Keep your call sheets, bookings and production conversations alongside this plan in their appropriate systems. Martini is a scheduling workspace, not a claim that a crew member has confirmed a call or that a location has been secured.

Keep post in the picture from the beginning

Editorial may begin while photography is still underway. Picture lock, sound work, colour and master delivery have their own handoffs, so show them explicitly instead of allowing “post” to become the space left after the shoot.

When a date changes, inspect the next handoff and the final delivery commitment. Use the table to check exact dates, the timeline to understand overlap and an export for the next production conversation. Keep a copy before clearing browser data: the working project lives in your current browser.

  • Review the template’s assumptions.
  • Assign cast to the correct shoot-day tasks.
  • Check post handoffs before distributing a new schedule.
